Hotels in Stockholm are so abundant that you're sure to find one in almost every street. Being a town rich with history and natural landscape, most hotels are designed and furnished matching to the town's recognition as one of the oldest town in Scandinavian countries. Albeit being rich and extravagant, there are many budget-friendly hotels for those looking for a cheap place to stay. Most cheap hotels in Stockholm provide comfortable rooms with value for money service, but you'll be amazed with the high level of customer service quality matching to the grandeur of the city.
The low priced rooms are quite small compared to similar hotels in other countries, which is due to space constrains but most of these lower scale hotels create an added value by retaining the original structure of the buildings they occupy in which some were built back in the 18th century.
If you're willing to pay more for extravagant comfort and luxury, Stockholm's rows of luxurious hotels will definitely live up to you expectation with lavish furnishings, décors of stone carvings and exceptional service. Living up to the city extraordinary magnificent history, these upscale accommodations provide not only the best experience but also outstanding amenities such as art collection displays, non-tampered original building structure that dates back a couple of centuries ago, and more. But if you feel that this exaggerated taste is not for you then head on to one out of plenty of mid-range hotels here. Nicely decorated with basic lavish furnishings yet affordable, these hotels provide comfortable rooms plus good locations as well.
Stockholm City - Made by a group of 14 islands interconnected by about 50 bridges, Stockholm is the capital city of Sweden. This lively cosmopolitan is built around Lake Mälaren, which flows into the Baltic Sea while passing an archipelago of about 24,000 islands and islets. Most of the structures here constructed with both classic and modern Scandinavian architecture, incorporating brass and steel complete with a fairytale tower, and lots of green space. The entire city buildings covers only 40 percent of the total city's land, while the rest are equally shared by waterways and green lungs which makes Stockholm perhaps the city with the freshest air in any capital city in Europe.
Most of Stockholm's attractions are found in "innerstaden" which means the inner city or zones within the city tolls created by separation of areas and determined by islands and waterways within the city. Outside the inner city, the city has a typically suburban character with plenty of green areas and lakeside parks. This distinctive character houses a number of spectacular tourist attractions, ranging from the interesting architecture of the City Hall to the stunning natural beauty of Stockholm archipelago.
Tourist can start exploring the town beginning with a visit to the royal family residence, the Drottningholm Palace. Here, tourist can get up close and personal with rich culture and traditions of the Swedish monarchy. To keep the ball running, tourists should then check out the Vasa museum with its centre of attraction, a 17th century warship. Gamla stan, a picturesque old town, is a major attraction in itself with narrow streets and houses dating back to medieval times. Another must see building here is the Riddarholmskyrkan, an immaculately preserved medieval church.
Albeit its rich history and tradition, Stockholm is a modern city with plenty of shopping opportunities. Normaln district is well known for its shopping arcades such as the Drottninggatan, a busy pedestrian shopping street well known to be a real tourist trap in summertime. The most central part, located around the Odenplan square offers some shopping outlets and a boost in nightlife with rows of clubs.
