Since the opening in 1954, the Perminalen Hotel has worked in close collaboration with the Norwegian Army. Many Norwegian soldiers and officers have stayed in the hotel for shorter or longer periods of time during the last 47 years. At first, the hotel was located by Frogner Gård. It was later moved to Nedre Vollgate in 1998, before it eventually relocated to Ovre Slottsgate 2 where it is to be found today. In the year of 2000 the Perminalen Hotel agreed on an alliance with the world-wide Hotel Gigant Vip Backpackers.
