Hotels in Central Station – Located at one of the most strategic location within the city, the Central Station vicinity is flooded with mid range and luxury hotels while looking for a budget hotel is a letdown. Most hotels offer comfortable rooms with excellent amenities and outstanding customer service. If you're going to your hotel directly from the station, check with your hotel if shuttle bus is available as some upscale hotels do have designated shuttle buses and taxis. Hotels within walking distance form the station would be booked months early as it's a favourite among business travellers, and if you prefer these hotels then you'll have to place reservation and confirm your room much earlier to avoid disappointment.
Central Station - Oslo Central Station or commonly known as Oslo S is the main railway station in Oslo and also the largest railway station in entire Norwegian railway system. The station has 19 lines and serves express, regional and local train services by four companies. Originally built as ad-hoc terminus in 1854, the station currently owned and operated by Jernbaneverket or Norwegian National Rail Administration after it was rebuilt and reopened in 1980.
The station has two buildings, the original Oslo East building and the newer main building for Oslo Central. Each building houses a large shopping centre, but the main attraction is the Oslo Østbanestasjon or the Oslo East Station, being retained its original structure which was built in 1882. This reddish three storey building houses many mid and lower scale market products, with a few upscale outlets. To get here is very easy, all you have to do is to board any electric train that heads to Oslo S. There won't be much signboards in English so don't be shy to ask around for the correct direction!
